My students are high achieving fourth graders in an urban school district. Several students are identified as gifted. They are motivated to learn and love to read! Their hunger to learn and discover is contagious. They especially love to read books by Kate DiCamillo and to meet in small groups to discuss the characters and plot. Our school district has made some drastic program cuts due to lack of funding and the children are missing out on lots of things that their peers in more affluent districts get to experience every day.
