Ockley Green is one of several public schools in our district that has gone from being a 6 - 8th grade school to a K-through 8th grade school to now being returned to a 6th through 8th grade. Our wonderful school is an inner city school with a high percentage of students on free and reduced lunches. We have an amazing dual language program where students begin learning Spanish in kindergarten and continue learning through 8th grade. I started teaching in Portland in 1997, as a 4th grade teacher. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th for 11 years; then I became part of our middle school program. I now teach science and; health to the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at our school. In total, I work with over 140 students daily and I love it! Due our school being built in 1927, it doesn't have many of the tools that a twenty-first century middle school student needs. I am hoping you will help us out.
