I have a class of 100% Latino English Language Learners. My students are smart, driven, and very verbal. Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socioeconomic limitations. They are exposed to violence and socioeconomic limitations like lack of food that others take for granted for not having. In my classroom, students get to dream, the sky is not the limit, they can soar out of this world. The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming high is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. They will explore and experience activities in a whole new way, with the requested supplies because it puts them one step ahead of success.
