Dear all, I am Ms. Dawn. I am currently teaching ELA and US History 8th grade class in a high-needs urban high school. I believe that every student with and without disabilities has a unique potential to become a contributing member in society. It is, therefore, very crucial for teachers to use multi-media and different modalities to improve students' learning. In other words, we have to start where the students are and try to help them make sense of their learning. By using the book "Alexander Hamilton - A Guide to Life", my students will read about Hamilton's life history and lessons learned, for example, how he rigorously pursued his education, how he profusely read and wrote, and how he passed the Bar examination and became a lawyer in six months, to name a few. The chapters are short, each of which has a lesson learned. Each student is responsible for one chapter and will share out the lesson learned.
