My students will use the materials throughout the school year to integrate and show relationships across the curriculum in math, science, reading and writing. My students will use the glue guns, drawing pencils, and charcoals in their architecture residency as they collaborate on how to design a floorpan and build a model of a lunar colony that will best support their needs. They will use the art materials in our explorers unit, as we reflect on the scientific knowledge of the sun, moon, and earth at different points in time and make connections between past and present. By funding this project my students will incorporate art into their learning, which will provide a greater appreciation for the arts and to explore connections where their creativity may flourish. This experience will challenge them to think critically and explore a world of possibilities through using a wide array of artistic mediums.
