I recently read a case study for my ESOL endorsement. It discussed the idea of a parent resource room. This truly spoke to my heart. So often parents are unable to help students at home based on a lack of educational resources or materials. I thought what a great way to help students and parents. This would allow parents and students to check out different learning tools to take home and practice with. This will give students who may not have books at home the opportunity to take books home. In the lower grades this will allow parents and students to learn sight words. All in all this will better educate not only our students, but also our parents. So often parents aren't involved because they don't know what to do. This will get parents more involved in their child's learning. It will also create more of a parent presence in the school. Once this project is sponsored I plan to make a parent meeting to introduce this to our school. This will also show parents how to use these resources and also let them see what is available to them. I hope this is an educational legacy that I can start for many generations to come.
