Do you remember what it was like to be EXCITED about reading? Well this is the first time these students have really been EXCITED about the opportunity to choose a book on their level and have it read to them! My students are creative, eager to learn, inspired to read and love attention. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly impact their experiences during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful their learning will continue on a path of academic excellence. The students in my classroom have a range of disabilities including, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities. Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.
