These books will help to enhance our weekly discussions on positive behavior. Working through the lessons will engage the girls with different activities to help better identify better choices in their behaviors. In introducing the book, the first lesson describes the 7 positive habits and then contrast them with opposite less positive habits. After presenting this lesson in a compare/contrast activity, it will then lead to a lesson on self-reflection. This will then lead to conversations including self-reflection as well as setting goals to commit to incorporating the new habits in their daily activities. The 7 habits are covered in each of the remaining chapters and will be used as focused discussion and activities during our weekly meetings. During the discussion, the girls will be asked to think of real-life situations in which the could or can benefit from what they learned. I have seen how the choices middle school girls make can positively as well negatively impact their learning since it is such a social time of their lives. These books will be used in a book study that can have a positive impact on the mentoring group.
