My school is a Title I school, located in a low socioeconomic neighborhood. Most of my students are Latinos and are considered as English Learners. None of my students come from families of college graduates. As a result students do not come to school with an understanding of the benefit of higher education and how an advanced skill set will be vital to the job market. My mission is to expose them to the field of Architecture while keep them motivated and engaged. I want my students to explore their talents and find their passion. Getting involved in a hands on project gives my English Learners an alternative means to show what they are capable of. They realize their talents, strengths, and capabilities. This also gives the students the chance to observe their classmates' projects in details, exchange ideas, and practice problem solving through collaboration.
