My students are eager learners who enjoy learning. They come from diverse family backgrounds and many are first-generation Americans. It is wonderful to have them share their diverse cultures, but it is also important to build their common funds of knowledge. Our unit on ancient Greece provides such a fund. This unit already incorporates social studies, language arts, visual arts and performing arts strands. Adding this track and field component will further strengthen this experience for my students.
