Teaching children about money is important for their personal development. Showing them the basics such as how to budget, spend and save will establish good money habits for life. Students know at an early age the difference between coins and bills, however, in first grade they are just learning the value of the currency. They are learning how to exchange coins of equal value. Teaching the value of money through real life situations and examples will help them understand where money comes from and how it is earned. The more financially savvy children are the better spending decisions they will make throughout their lives. By donating to our project, you will not only help to increase student understanding of money, but you are giving them the opportunity to use the manipulatives and apply their knowledge in the classroom by purchasing school supplies, such as pencils, erasers, and stickers. You will also be giving them a helping hand towards financial independence.
