Most of my students do not own a computer at home, therefore they do not have an opportunity to utilize some of the web-based programs that our school has purchased. We are limited on our usage of our computer lab at school. 3rd grade is the biggest jump educationally. Our state has the highest expectations for this particular grade. If they do not pass the 3rd grade Reading test, they do not move on to the 4th grade. My average and below average students need more time on computers to utilize specialized reading programs to help them excel in my classroom and beyond. These programs will help close learning gaps so that these students can easily process the new concepts they will be learning. The use of these Chromebooks will allow me to easily identify and help with areas they are weak in within the subject of Reading. I will be able to assist these students who need a little more one on one than others.
