My Students: Many of my students often accuse me of "doing too much" in my classroom expectations. Oftentimes, it is plausible that many of my students don't receive positive reinforcement outside of school. However, everyday, we help these young people reach their goals through the value of hard work. More often than not, our students come from underprivileged and transient backgrounds. While our school is home to a very successful magnet program, students in general education classes are often under served, and therefore, unchallenged, unruly, and misunderstood. Class sizes sometimes eclipse 30 students per class with 8-15 of my students having a disability. At times, it seems like a battleground where many of our societal problems are ramming each other head on. But despite all of the economic and social challenges, the students at my school maintain an underdog perspective and a determined mindset that fuels a passion for learning. When motivated, they can reach for the stars.
