I teach first grade in a school that is located on a military base. Most of the children in my class have at least one parent that is active duty military and many are deployed overseas. Our population is transient. Many of the students move frequently. A digital camera will motivate writing and language, enabling my students to share their classroom memories and stories wherever they go as well as with parents who are not around to join in their first grade learning adventures.
