Our student population is extremely diverse and exists within an urban low income city. As a result many of the topics in our Science and Social Studies lessons allow us to learn more about the diversity of our students. Many have had little exposure to Science and Social Studies due to our intense Math and ELA programs. Science and Social Studies have always been areas of the curriculum that have not had as much as exposure due to the rigorous Math and ELA programs. However, this year our departmentalized schedule along with being an ELT school, has allowed us to focus equally on Science and Social Studies while allowing it to serve as an enhancement to increase reading and writing comprehension.
