My class has students at all developmental stages of learning. I have a large population of English Language Learners, so phonemic awareness practice is a very important skill for them. For many of these children school is the only place where they can practice the language skills they are developing or speak the language. For this reason, any way to make this a fun learning experience that they are eager to participate in will help them to build on these skills. They also like to work independently and this activity allows for self checking in an age appropriate fun way.
