Our school is considered a low-income school, and like most schools we've experienced serious cuts to our budget. There is simply not enough money to purchase new furniture (or replace broken furniture). Many of our students do not get to visit a public library because they have no means of transportation, so the school library is the only one they are able to visit. It is always my goal to teach my students to use the library independently so they are self-sufficient when the time comes for them to move on to other libraries. I would love to be able to have a new, functioning easel/whiteboard to use when teaching the students about the Dewey Decimal System, elements of literature, and other relevant library curriculum. My students love the library and use what they learn each week. Any materials (like an easel) that I can use to enhance their library experience will be very much appreciated.
