I have students on many different reading levels, so I want to offer them a variety of engaging choices in my classroom library. I believe that the greater access the students have to books daily, the more books will naturally make their way into the hands and hearts of my students. An improved classroom library will give my students the chance to “sample” books more easily than going to the school library. I can also more easily select a book for a student to do a guided or close read when I have a variety of books in my room on different levels. Another way I use my library is with literary scavenger hunts, and investigating published work to find whatever writing convention we are working on. The more books we have, the more options we have.
