Over 90% of our students live in poverty. The students are reading on levels from Kindergarten to 4th grade in the second grade. Everyday these students face challenges no child should have to face. Reading is not a priority in many of these homes. I want to continue to get my students excited about reading and have them share their excitement with their families! Going beyond the city that these students live in is not possible for so many of these families. Many of these students are excited to learn about new things and discover new things. By bringing these books into the classroom, I can encourage students to learn about new things and encourage them to dream about the world around them.
