My fifth-grade students attend a Title I, inner-city school within the state of Tennessee. Over 65% of my students did not pass the fourth-grade TCAP state exam and a majority read at a second to fourth grade reading level. Despite being an at-risk population, my students are creative and curious thinkers eager to become better readers and writers.
