My students are special education 4th and 5th graders attending a public school. My class is energetic, eager to learn, and want to succeed. They have many talents and strengths in the arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and physical education. Some are artistically creative, some are out-of the-box thinkers, some love to experiment, and others are extremely social and compassionate. They try hard, but they struggle all along the way. My students have oral and receptive language and vocabulary deficits, with reading and writing challenges that limit their perspective and awareness of the possibilities that exist for their future, because they can't always access materials that will inspire them to explore new worlds.
