I teach a self-contained third/ fourth grade class in an urban district. They are language disabled with other disabilities . My students are economically and socially disadvantaged. Over 90% of our school receives a free or reduced lunch. These children are educationally at risk, with little materials at home to help support them. Many do not have access to technology or books. Their parents work several jobs, have no means of transportation, and many do not speak the English language. They are great parents, and always support the teacher and school programs. I buy many supplies for the class. My students are on a kindergarten/first grade reading level, and I do not have the necessary books in the classroom to support our nightly reading program. Please help my wonderful students who are so eager to learn.
