The children at my school are without a great many things in this life. Many have a parent that is or has been incarcerated. My students come from foster homes and homeless shelters. in spite of the poverty and crime in this area, my students are loving, caring hard working students. They are the sort of children you will absolutely love and wish good things for. They are our future and really do need your support. Many of my students do not have parents that help them with reading, as a result reading skills are very low in my classroom. My school needs to have more interesting books for these at risk children. However our school hardly has any books for these children to read. My students need over 80 books to read. The children in my class are in need of books. In a few weeks I will be starting a non-fiction unit with first graders. The few fiction books in our classroom are books I was able to pick up at the Salvation Army last year.
