Students need to be inspired to write and the use of technology inspires students. I teach Exploring Technology to grades 6 - 8. Our school is located in a rural county in North Carolina where many industries have departed leaving students who do not seek a four year degree in a bad situation. My course is designed to interest students in technology and provide them with basics that will be needed as they move to high school Career and Technical courses and on to our community college which is a main player in efforts to rebuild our industries. One point of focus of our school system this year is writing, and I would like to use a Claymation movie project to combine the goals of my classroom with the school system initiative.
