Could you help my students acquire language skills to allow them to become life-long learners? I teach first grade in an urban school. As a first grade teacher, I teach my students everything from reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and life skills (manners, correct grammar) and everything in between! We are a Title 1 school, which means over 95% of our population is on free or reduced lunch. My class is very diverse. They are learning how to get along with those who are not like them physically, and realizing that we are all the same with hints of different shades to make a beautiful rainbow. Over half of my class is an english language learner, which means that english is not their first language!
