I work in a diverse, inner-city school. Most of the diversity comes from our Hispanic population, but there is a large refugee population as well. Most or our refugees come from Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Needless to say, many of my students are beginning English speakers. Also included in our student population are the children from the local women's shelter. These children have endured a lot of trauma in their short lives. My students face many of challenges, but their hand work and positive attitude is an inspiration to me and makes me love my job! They're amazing.
