Our students are culturally diverse....in religion, language, and social experiences. I recently found out that a few of my students have never been to a professional baseball game, and they live within minutes of a well know stadium. Our students don't have opportunities to travel any more than within their neighborhood. They have limited resources because many of the families live with other families because of lack of money and/or jobs. Many students from last year's class have come to me to ask for materials they need for their class this year. They need folders or spiral notebooks, and basic supplies. My goal is take students to places through literature and via pictures from the internet. I want them to realize they can gain experiences and to think about our world together. They are visual learners and love book talks, and many of them don't have books in their homes. Students at our school are playful, kind, and caring. They want what all kids want!!
