I teach in the Spanish Dual Immersion program. My students learn Language Arts, Math reinforcement, and Science in Spanish. My students are constantly learning new words that are essential for their understanding of unfamiliar concepts. I have noticed that visual information has a longer impact on the students’ learning. I use a lot of colorful pictures to help the students understand some of these concepts. The students use these colorful pictures to create sentences, paragraphs, and even short stories within context. Additionally, the students use these printed pictures in different centers to practice the new vocabulary words. Some activities in these centers are matching pictures with words or sentences. I like to display as many pictures as possible around the classroom so the student can refer to them as needed. The donation of this printer to our class will help us to create teaching props that will benefit me as a teacher and specially the students by creating a colorful learning environment full of Spanish vocabulary words. These words will be attached to a picture and will help the students remember and use them at all times.
