The book club members are Illinois middle school students in a public school. For many years, the mayor of the city sponsored a middle school book club. That is no longer the case and support is needed for the book club. Many of the middle school students have looked forward to the opportunity to participate in the book club. Some also remember an author of one of the middle school book club selections visiting the school book club and middle school students. Support for the club could provide the opportunity for students to have a book club and possibly meet an author. The previous book club format was especially exciting because the books were supplied along with club t-shirts. Additionally, students were able to keep the books to develop personal libraries. Students might not be able to keep books since funding is now an issue, but they can have the opportunity to participate and the club and develop as readers.
