My students live in a rural Northern California town. Many of them are English Language learners. Our town has an overall low socio-economic level and many of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunch. The kids are great and eager to learn. One of the great things about small towns is they often create tight knit communities and ours is no exception. Several generations of families living here makes it so most people know each other, or are related, so we all look out for each other and come together to celebrate and socialize. The school is an extension of the community and shares the same "look out for your neighbor" attitude.
