Our rural school has approximately 450 students in fifth through eighth grades. Almost 70% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Art for fifth and sixth grade students is a nine week course. Seventh and eighth grade students choose their elective class for the semester term. Currently, the classes are 84 minutes running on a Day 1/Day 2 schedule. My students are from the regular classroom setting, Academically Intellectually Gifted students, the Exceptional Children’s program, and the ESL program. Art provides a wonderful avenue for so many children to learn new things and to build their confidence as decision makers and critical thinkers. It's not always the best behaved and brightest students that create the best work! I try to provide creative, extensive projects that will inspire all of them and benefit them beyond the art classroom. This project can build their technology skills and in the coming years, perhaps give them a direction for higher education and eventua
