My students are eager to learn but come from a background where they are not highly motivated to read. I only have a handful of students that are reading on grade level. Most of the students are on free or reduced lunch and live in a high poverty neighborhood. The are not exposed to the same opportunities as other children. They are also English Language Learners and need a lof of support with their English comprehension.
