My 4th Grade students ROCK! They are from an Appalachian small town in rural Ohio. They work hard in the classroom and deserve the very best learning environment that I can provide for them. I have, on my own, purchased a few large cushions, stools, yoga balls, and beanbag chairs for students to use. I would like to add a few more soft areas for them to sit while they read for book clubs and independent reading. Current research supports children having flexible seating arrangements, but I need a little help to make it happen for my kids. I believe If they are comfortable reading in an inviting space, this will encourage all students (including reluctant students) to read more and boost their literacy skills for better academic achievement.
