My 24 kindergarten students come from all different backgrounds. The school is in an urban area, where most do not have the resources necessary for learning how to read at home. Some of my students have not been exposed to reading or do not have the accessibility of a reading environment other than in my classroom. Reading is fundamental to all other subjects! They love to look through stories in our classroom library and are proud when they discover words that they can read. My students are so loving and want to succeed, but need the tools to do so.
