In my digital photography class, students learn about photo composition, the elements of design, and Adobe Photoshop Elements to create unique pieces of art. However, students have been limited to using the camera on their computers for these works of art. Although they have produced some amazing pieces, they need to be able to take what they have learned and apply it to photographing outside of the classroom. My students are eager to capture the world around them through taking their own photographs. They will explore photo shoots with still life set-ups and photo composition in portraits and capturing nature. After exploring basic photography techniques and having practice using a digital camera, each student will be able to check out a camera and capture their world through the eye of the camera.
