I've taken a fork in the road for the music classes I teach by incorporating guitars as the means to have a great hands-on experience making music. The inclusion of ukuleles means that the younger students or students with smaller hands can also join in the fun and joy of making music with others who play the guitar. Right now, I only have ten guitars, which means I have to ask students to share instruments during music class. With the addition of ten ukuleles, all students will have an opportunity to play together as they learn to rock along with their favorite music in a setting that encourages risk-taking, but also sets the stage for them as life-long learners.
