Our students reflect the linguistic, cultural, and economic diversity of San Francisco. A neighborhood school, Monroe Elementary offers three language pathways for students: Cantonese Bi-literacy, Spanish Immersion, and English Plus. We use the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project Units of Study to support authentic and rigorous literacy in three languages. Teachers and parents are committed to this gem of a school because kids at Monroe are inspired readers and writers.
