The school that I teach at services the entire school district in the form of being a Magnet School. Students are enrolled in classes that will allow them to receive certification in the following various career fields: Cosmetology, Construction, Health, IT, Public Safety and Fire & Rescue as well as, receive the necessary academic classes needed to graduate high school. Our students may come from all over the district but the majority of them come from the surrounding neighborhood which is considered to be "inner city" with lower socioeconomic status incomes. The school population is primarily African American with other Minority groups represented. Our school is considered to be Title 1 which means that 95% or more of our students are on Free and Reduced breakfast as well as lunch. Which for some of the students these are the only meals they get in a day or week. I am fortunate enough to teach 9th grade AP Human Geography and World Geography.
