I teach two half day kindergarten students in a year round school. Our school consists of 1200 students on rotating tracks and located in a state that is dead last in the nation for student educational spending. Needless to say, our supplies are limited. My students are a very bright bunch and I would love to be able to harness their abilities by challenging them to use higher order thinking. As with any five year old, they are eager to learn about themselves as well as the world around them. I have several English Language Learners in my class requiring extra time and materials to meet their needs. Every day I see advancements in their learning and hope to have some additional supplies to keep that momentum going.
