87% of our students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and 62% speak English as a second language. While schools emphasize the importance of reading daily, children need access to books every day to make this possible. We would like to build a take-home library where students can take home a book daily to practice reading with their parents. Students and parents could keep the book for a few days and build their reading skills. When they bring the book back, they would get a new one to take home. We believe books in children's hands is the best way to learn to love reading at an early age!!
