My students are the reason that I wake up and go to work everyday. Some days can be challenging, but every time I get to see a student succeed it makes it all worth it. I work in one of the poorest parts of DC. My students come from many different backgrounds and they have all had many experiences. My students' home lives are very unstructured, and change day to day. Unfortunately, my classroom is not equipped to give these students that structure and guidance to live a healthy and active lifestyle. All of my students have struggles controlling their behavior, so my school provides a specialized program just for students that have behavior issues. They are in classrooms with a lot of adult support and we also provide all services such as social workers and therapy right on site. We are doing everything we can to see these children succeed.
