Students will read classroom novels in the reading nook or listen to me read aloud our novels each day. We read at least ninety minutes a day. It is difficult to fully concentrate when students are sitting in desks. My students do not have a rug or classroom pillows so they have to listen to me read while sitting in their desks. There is not special area where they can read for pleasure. With a more comfortable reading space, students would be able to relax and have book talks with a group or partners. The reading pillows would be perfect for independent reading and writing activities.
