My school is a Title 1 school which means we service low income households. My students often need extra support and hands-on activities to promote learning. Students in my class visit 6 different stations throughout the week. These stations are ABC, Computers, Science, Reading/Listening (listening to books and tapes), Writing, and Math. All stations cater to each students learning style: auditory, kinesthetic, and visual learners. Stations consist of multi-leveled, hands-on materials to allow for learning on each students' academic level. Students can choose activities they are comfortable with and can feel successful about their learning. Hands-on activities allow for students to retain information faster through manipulation of materials. To promote learning some of the things my students use are pocket charts and pocket chart games, the overhead and overhead games, alphabet and number magnets, books, writing paper to make books, rhyming and alphabet games, and more.
