This year, I am teaching two preschool classes in a low economical area in Northern California. Ninety five percent of our students are low-income and 90% of our students come from either a single parent home or they are placed with other family members (aunts, grandparents, uncles, sisters...) due to situations out of their control. Many of our students come from homes of uneducated caretakers and so they lack resources at home and often do not have materials to complete their work/learning. In addition, they do not have people or appropriate resources who can show them ways to be a successful student and a successful change agent.
