The students in my classroom come from low to middle income homes. A few of them have moved in with their grandparents because their own parents have lost their jobs or custody of them. They have limited access to technology and some do not have Internet in their home. My school is an accelerated learning school mixed with regular students from the neighborhood. I teach a neighborhood class that mixes with accelerated learning students at recess. My students are very aware of the different situations that they live in. Their parents do not volunteer as much, help their students with their homework or have access to modern technologies because of the cost. A large majority of my students are on free and reduced lunch.
