I teach language arts to 37 kids in two third grade classes in an elementary school where many of the kids are at near poverty level. They range in reading ability level from 1st to 7th grade. Many are at the lower range and many cannot spell. I am very frustrated as a teacher that has been teaching for 30 years. Even third graders are writing e-mails and IM's and I feel it negatively impacts their writing. A boy misspelled the word "see" yesterday.
