Hello! I am a Transition Teacher and I work with students with specials needs who are between the ages of 18-22. I have the most exciting job in Special Education because I get to teach my students to be independent! A typical week consists of budgeting, banking at Patelco Credit Union, grocery shopping, cooking, working out at a local gym, travel training, vocational lessons in the classroom and vocational training at local businesses, such as Armstrong Nursery, Joann's Fabric, Marshall's, Walgreen's and Mexxi's. It's a packed week of lessons that will help my students become independent, productive citizens. I am a huge advocate of teaching my students with special needs the importance of managing their money and keeping it safe! In today's world, it is crucial to arm my students with this knowledge. A curriculum that deals with this subject matter is very hard to find. I have created most of my own curriculum but would love to find an alternative curriculum to supplement my teaching. I appreciate your consideration and thank you for funding any project you choose.
