According to second-language research, acquiring vocabulary through kinesthetic activities are the most effective. A simple bouncing activity with a basketball could help a second-language learner acquire multiple words in their target language. The balls being requested will provide my students with a fun and engaging activity that will help them build their vocabulary as well as learn team building skills. A second-language learner could learn a plethora of words by simply "playing" with a basketball. Learning vocabulary through simple activities like playing with a ball in a guided activity would not only be fun for them but very effective at increasing their language base. It is my goal to eventually have enough sports equipment to promote health and wellness and improve Hawaiian language for my students.
