Many of my students either come from different cultural backgrounds or have special needs such as autism, speech, auditory and visual impairments. My goal is to promote innovation in education through the use of technology by helping students master English at all levels, from learning how to read, to practicing writing with correct grammar skills, to studying classical literature. The iPad has many great free applications available for the elementary classroom (e.g. Learn to Read, Good Readers, Mobile Mouse, Thinkbook, A Novel Idea, and Notebooks) and there are new book applications being released every day. With the tablets I will more efficiently collect and utilize data in my lesson planning and execution. The rigor of the curriculum will be enhanced through higher order thinking skills, problem solving and group work.
