I teach a class of witty and creative eight-year-olds at an inner-city school in Pennsylvania. While 99% of my students receive free lunch, struggle with reading and writing, and come to school with many external concerns, there is an adventurous story-teller and avid reader within each of them that is bursting to get out! The school is now in its 5th year of turnaround and it is time to really push the academic rigor for my students through improving their literacy skills.

About my class
